Defibtech has launched the TSO-C142a-authorised aviation battery for the Lifeline View automated external defibrillator (AED). The long-life battery provides for eight hours of continuous operation to monitor and document a patient’s ECG during a flight, and to provide defibrillation shocks as required.
According to a company release, after rigorous testing, the aviation battery passed the aircraft industry’s required safety and performance standards.
The battery (model DBP-2013) makes Lifeline View AED available to the aviation industry. Weighing less than three pounds and having a footprint of 7.3 x 9.5 x 2.3 inches, the defibrillator saves both space and fuel costs. The AED also has passed US military “drop and shock” tests, as well as vigorous vibration tests for ground, helicopter and jet aircraft.
The Lifeline View AED provides rescuers in air, sea and land environments with the knowledge and confidence they need to save a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. The AED comes with an LCD video feature that shows rescuers how to perform each step of a sudden cardiac arrest rescue with a defibrillator in real time – in accordance with the latest American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines.
In addition to the help videos, the View has a patented status screen that shows the readiness of defibrillation pads and the AED’s battery, as well as the overall AED operational status. The View AED virtually maintains itself through automated daily self-tests.
