Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), commonly mistaken for a heart attack, is one of the leading causes of death in the United States each year, and approximately 95 percent of people who experience the condition die as a result. The heart Rhythm Society, in partnership with the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC), launched the “Arrest the Risk” awareness campaign in the U.S. to overcome the barriers to proper diagnosis and treatment of SCA, particularly in the African-American community. This public service announcement explains the dangers of SCA and features Emmy-award winning journalist, Shaun Robinson.
