Boston Scientific announces CE-mark approval of SSPC NXT catheters

Boston Scientific Corporation announced today that it has received CE-mark approval for its Site Selective Pacing Catheters (SSPC) NXT.

These catheters are designed to support precise and controlled lead placement in the left bundle branch area (LBBA) and other right ventricular (RV) pacing sites during conduction system pacing (CSP) procedures. Boston Scientific describes SSPC NXT as the latest addition to the company’s growing portfolio of advanced CSP and cardiac rhythm management technologies intended to support the treatment and prevention of heart rhythm disorders.

“The SSPC NXT catheter is a valuable addition to the Boston Scientific CSP portfolio, offering enhanced procedural flexibility through its new length, shape and internal diameter,” said Angelo Auricchio, chief medical officer for Rhythm Management in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Boston Scientific. “These design enhancements are intended to support physicians in achieving more precise lead placement during CSP procedures and reflect Boston Scientific’s continued work in developing treatments for heart rhythm disorders.”

SSPC NXT catheters are single-use percutaneous delivery tools intended for the venous introduction of pacing or defibrillation leads, Boston Scientific states in a press release, adding that these catheters are available in multiple curved shapes to accommodate a wide range of cardiac anatomies and procedural preferences.

Building on the established SSPC platform, SSPC NXT offers extended catheter length, additional curve options and enhanced mechanical support to help navigate diverse cardiac anatomies and facilitate physiologic pacing strategies—including LBBA and RV septal pacing—Boston Scientific also notes. Compatible with the Ingevity+ pacing lead, the catheter is said to provide physicians with another pacing option, offering flexibility when treating patients with complex anatomies.
