AliveCor announced that over-the-counter (OTC) orders for the AliveCor Heart Monitor, the only US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared mobile ECG (electrocardiogram) recorder that supports both iPhone and Android smartphones, previously available by prescription only, will now begin shipping.
The AliveInsights service has also been expanded to include an education service. The educational portal provides patients with access to information about cardiac anatomy, description of an ECG, and an arrhythmia library, which includes a comprehensive database of information providing patients additional tools to encourage more patients to take control of their heart health.
“Providing patients with an over-the-counter device and comprehensive educational information will provide the tools needed for patients to fully participate in their own cardiac health,” says Euan Thomson, president and chief executive officer of AliveCor.
The AliveCor Heart Monitor is available for purchase in the United States by health professionals and consumers.
