The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) has announced that its cardiovascular digital health conference—HRX—has been rescheduled to September 2022. The event had been due to take place in San Diego, USA, over 2–4 December 2021.

In a statement issued late last week, HRS said that the move was prompted by concerns that the continuing COVID-19 pandemic would be likely to hinder the delivery of the event.

The statement said: “One of the guiding principles we established early in our HRX planning and development process was the ability to safely convene in-person.

“As you know, HRX was designed to be an immersive, interactive experience with a full complement of stakeholders, including strong representation from international presenters and attendees.

“It is becoming evident that the ongoing pandemic will not allow for a hands-on format and global participation at this time. Therefore, HRS has made the difficult, but sensible decision to reschedule HRX to September 2022.

“Our hope is that global vaccine rollouts will continue progressing, COVID positivity rates will decline, and travel restrictions, both those of governments and employers, will ease so we can deliver on our promise of an intentionally unconventional experience.”

The three-day immersive experience had been described by HRS as combining exploration, innovation, and collaboration designed to examine the emerging challenges facing the global cardiovascular digital health community.
