The pandemic saw a boom in the use of remote technologies and telehealth for patient monitoring and management, including for patients with heart failure—and many of these technologies look to have a role in the future, even despite a return to more in-person care.
Speaking to Cardiac Rhythm News at the 2022 European Heart Rhythm Association annual meeting (EHRA 2022, 3‒5 April, Copenhagen, Denmark), Martin Cowie (Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK) discusses the advantages and challenges of remote management technologies for heart failure.
Looking ahead to the post-pandemic world, Cowie discusses some of the research that will be important to determine which technologies are likely to be carried forward, commenting that the challenge is “deciding what is good”.
